Policies (Please Read!)

Relevant policies to ensure that we are all on the same page!

New clients: I try to get around to contacting potential new clients on Fridays. Every now and again, I can do it during the week, but do not despair if you do not hear from me before the next Friday. I normally send an email and try to set up a phone time to talk about working together.

Cancellation: Cancellation is sometimes necessary, especially in an emergency! If you need to cancel the session outside of an emergency situation, I ask that you do that greater than 24 hours in advance. This give me time to fill that slot back up. If you cancel outside of an emergency within 24 hours of your appointment, I will charge you a fee of $50 at your next session. If you could not make your appointment due to a true emergency (something 100% outside of your control), I will not charge any fee.

Reimbursement: I take all co-pays and self-pay fees at the end of the session. Please bring a credit, debit, or HSA card that can be swiped. I do not take cash or checks.

Deductibles: I ask my clients to be aware of their insurance policies. Depending on whether your deductible has already been covered, the claim that I send in to your insurance might go to it, rather than back to me in the form of an insurance payment. If this happens, clients are responsible for making up the difference. I will let clients know if the claim fee has gone to a deductible.

Late Sessions/No-shows: I ask that clients show up as on-time as possible for sessions. If a client shows up more than 15 minutes late for an appointment, I cannot bill appropriately. This will incur a fee of $50 and we will discuss barriers to getting to sessions, as well as how we can better accommodate your schedule. If a client no-shows to an appointment, meaning that he or she does not call to cancel, I will also charge a $50 no-show feel, to be collected during the next session.

Showing Up Late: If you show up after your appointment starts, please take a seat in one of the chairs in the waiting hallway. I check the hallway 5, 10, and 15 minutes after an appointment was scheduled to start. If I do not see you after 15 minutes has passed, I mark the appointment as a late cancel and charge a fee.

In-person or Online Sessions: I want to ensure that there is little that gets int he way of clients getting the help that they need. As such, I look forward to seeing clients virtually if needed and if that service is covered by insurance.

Discharge: I understand that things get in the way of counseling and it can fall off of the map every now and again. After a missed appointment, I will send an email to check in on you. If I do not receive any response after six months, I will discharge you from care. This does not mean that you are not welcome back! If you would like to come back, please email or call me and we can discuss that option.

I hope all this makes sense. If not, feel free to discuss the policies with me and I will explain them more thoroughly or change them, if needed.
